WNC Makes Financial Times Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders 2024 List

Hsinchu, June 7, 2024 – The Financial Times and market research company Statista have announced their Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders 2024 list. For this year’s list more than 2,000 Asia-Pacific enterprises were surveyed on their carbon reduction performance. WNC is honored to have been included in the list for the first time.

The Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders list recognizes companies that have made significant achievements in combating climate change. The selection area covers Asia and Oceania. Companies are evaluated on their greenhouse gas emissions intensity reductions from 2017 to 2022, transparency and extent of Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions reporting, CDP questionnaire scores, and participation in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

In order to actively combat the impact of climate change, WNC continues to respond to international initiatives. In addition to publishing an independent TCFD report, participating in CDP evaluation and receiving a B (management grade) in the Climate Change Questionnaire and Water Security Questionnaire, the company also signed up to the SBTi in 2023. WNC has committed to achieving a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (taking 2022 as the base year) and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. It was the first Taiwan network communications company to join RE100, committing to switch to 100% use of renewable energy by 2040 with the overall objective of becoming a net-zero enterprise.
