WNC Wins JAC 2026 SEP Silver Climate Award for Carbon Reduction Excellence

2026/10/20 Sustainability Award

WNC has been awarded the Silver Climate Award in the 2026 Scope 3 Supplier Engagement Programme (SEP) organized by the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC). This recognition highlights WNC’s excellence in climate governance and carbon management, while underscoring its achievements in extending decarbonization initiatives across the supply chain to drive low-carbon transition in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. JAC is an association of telecom operators that is dedicated to extending sustainability and carbon-reduction standards across the ICT supply chain. The JAC’s SEP aims to assess and improve the maturity of ICT suppliers in managing their greenhouse gas emissions. Suppliers are scored based on GHG emissions-related attributes across four categories: Strategy, Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV), Emissions Reduction, and Communication and Engagement.

WNC has already aligned itself with international climate governance standards. Its net-zero targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and it achieved all of its carbon reduction targets for 2025 within the scheduled timeframe. The company continuously enhances the transparency of its carbon emissions disclosures through third-party verification of emissions data, and it manages and discloses climate risks and opportunities in accordance with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures framework. WNC also secured "A" ratings in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) Climate Change and Water Security questionnaires and CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment, underscoring the company’s robust governance foundation and high reporting transparency. WNC has also implemented an internal carbon pricing mechanism, incorporating carbon costs into management and procurement decision-making processes. Business units in the company are encouraged to factor carbon emissions into operational and resource allocation plans to help instill a carbon reduction mindset across the organization.

For supply chain management, WNC integrates sustainability performance into its supplier performance evaluations and communicates its requirements on sustainability and integrity to suppliers through its Supplier Commitment to Sustainability Declaration and Supplier ESG Questionnaire. WNC also utilizes engagement channels such as supplier conferences and training programs to boost suppliers’ sustainability awareness. In 2025, 499 of WNC’s key and tier-1 suppliers participated in the EcoVadis sustainability risk assessment, and 94.6% of those suppliers completed the evaluation and received an ESG score. WNC also conducts annual RBA audits of its suppliers. The company’s target in 2025 was to complete audits on 50 key and tier-1 suppliers. During said year, WNC completed audits on 59 such suppliers, achieving a completion rate of 118%. Furthermore, WNC has incorporated its supply chain into its nature- and climate-risk management framework to assess the dependence and impact of supplier operations on natural ecosystems. To date, over 70% of the company’s tier-1 suppliers have initiated nature- and climate-related management measures to address issues related to the natural environment.

As the world transitions toward a low-carbon economy, corporate responsibility has extended beyond companies’ own operations to encompass the entire value chain. WNC will continue to collaborate with its value-chain partners to advance sustainable practices related to climate and nature, creating lasting positive impact for a sustainable future.
