WNC Wins National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award, Advancing Sustainability Across Its Value Chain

2026/11/02 Sustainability Award

Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment recently held the awards ceremony for the 8th National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award. WNC Corporation (WNC) was honored with this award for its outstanding performance in carbon reduction, energy management, resource circularity, and nature conservation. President Lai Ching-te received representatives from the award-winning companies and presented the award to WNC Chairman Haydn Hsieh. WNC’s Chief Sustainability Officer Molly Lin said, “Environmental sustainability is a critical foundation for corporate development. WNC is advancing climate action and environmental protection through science-based management, while integrating sustainability into our operations and governance. We will continue to work with our suppliers and community partners to create long-term value for both the environment and society.”

In accordance with its Sustainable Development Policy, WNC has established a board-level Sustainability Development Committee, and the company continues to enhance its environmental management through implementing ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 14064-1, and ISO 45001 standards. WNC’s carbon reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and it has met its 2025 emissions reduction targets across all scopes. WNC has also joined RE100 and is gradually increasing its use of renewable electricity. In 2025, the company completed 63 energy conservation projects, achieving electricity savings of 8.34 million kWh. In the same year, solar panels installed at WNC sites generated over 8.68 million kWh of electricity, a 72% year-on-year increase, while renewable energy accounted for 34.47% of total electricity consumption. In water management, WNC’s S1 manufacturing site in Hsinchu implemented measures to recycle and reuse wastewater from its manufacturing processes, reducing wastewater discharge at the site and increasing the water reuse rate in 2025 to 69%. The company’s resource circularity projects generated NT$34.02 million in revenue in 2025 and are expected to reduce value chain carbon emissions by 1,821 tonnes CO₂e in the same year. All of WNC’s major manufacturing sites worldwide have obtained UL 2799 Platinum Zero Waste to Landfill validation, demonstrating the company’s achievements in energy, water, and waste management.

WNC has also extended sustainability principles to product design by incorporating recycled plastics and aluminum as well as design-for-disassembly features into its products. The company has established a materials carbon footprint database to support low-carbon material selection. In addition, WNC has introduced an innovative bamboo fiber composite for use in electronic product packaging, reducing carbon emissions by 83% compared with virgin materials. As part of its commitment to employee well-being, WNC has promoted green dining for more than a decade. The company serves only organic vegetables in its employee cafeterias, and it has also established direct purchasing programs with smallholder farmers and an internal green marketplace initiative to support organic agriculture. WNC’s employee cafeterias have earned a two-star rating under the Food Made Good Standard from the UK’s Sustainable Restaurant Association, and were also honored with the Organic & Eco-Friendly Ingredients Award from the Green Dining Guide. The judges for the National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award recognized WNC as Taiwan’s first technology company to place such strong emphasis on ingredient sourcing for employee cafeterias, noting that its practices could serve as a model for other companies. This recognition underscores WNC’s efforts in integrating environmental responsibility into its daily operations.

WNC is committed to expanding its positive impact on sustainability. Through reforestation initiatives, the company works to improve the local environment in Taiwan, and it also conducts biodiversity and carbon sink monitoring on reforested areas to strengthen its natural capital management. WNC requires high-emitting key suppliers to conduct carbon inventories and obtain third-party verification; to date, 85% have completed both requirements. The company also requires suppliers to propose carbon reduction plans and work with WNC to reduce emissions. WNC pledges to continue expanding the scope of its ESG practices, using technological innovation and concrete action to respond to challenges brought about by climate change while working with value chain partners to create long-term positive impact for the environment and society.
